A forest fire broke out in Song Bang Ward in Cao Bang City on April 14. Local authorities mobilised more than 100 people, and the fire was put out by 3 am on Tuesday. But the dry conditions and thick layer of decaying leaf litter from winter caused the fire to smoulder. By late afternoon, strong winds reignited the flames.

The districts of Hoa An, Trung Khanh, and Ha Quang in Cao Bang have recorded many forest fires in recent days.
At around 5 pm on April 15, a forest fire was reported by National Highway 3B in Bac Kan. The rescue force was immediately sent to the site to extinguish the fire.
On Tuesday evening, a forest fire broke out in Tam Dao District, Vinh Phuc Province, damaging around 20 hectares of forest. Residents were blamed for burning leaves, and thick underbrush and strong winds caused the flames to spread into nearby plantations.
Since the start of this month, prolonged dry and unfavourable weather conditions have caused forest fires in some other localities, including Ha Giang, Quang Ninh, Ha Nam, Hai Phong, and Lang Son.
On April 15, up to 31 areas in five localities nationwide were placed under the highest fire warning level.
