Northern localities to face widespread heatwave

Many localities in northern Vietnam have been forecast to see a widespread heatwave from April 18.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the northern region is experiencing a light cold spell with the lowest temperature below 13 degrees.

However, northern and northern central localities may experience scattered heatwaves, which will intensify into widespread heat wave from April 18.

The highest temperature during this hot spell would reach around 35 degrees Celsius. This will be the first large-scale hot wave of the year in the north, instead of localised heat in northwestern areas earlier.

The hot weather is predicted to affect central localities from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai provinces from April 18.

In the coming month, average temperatures in Vietnam will be 0.5–1 degree Celsius higher than the multi-year average, except in the northern central and southern regions.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that this summer, the hot weather in Vietnam will arrive later and be less intense than in previous years.
