The incident occurred at the hillside field of Nguyen Van Loi’s family in Xuan Son Nam Commune.
Cracks have appeared across the ground surrounding the eruption site. The vent measures around 60 centimetres in diameter, with its depth yet to be determined. The eruption has affected an area spanning roughly 8 metres in diameter.

Authorities in Xuan Son Nam Commune have cordoned off the area using reflective tape and posted warning signs to designate it as a hazardous zone to prevent people from gathering there. They have set up a team to investigate the cause of the mud eruption.
According to a local resident, Le Van Tanh, nearby people heard a series of faint explosions shortly before the mud began to erupt. Locals are still waiting for authorities to offer a clear explanation for the phenomenon.
He also recalled that a similar mud eruption occurred in the same area back in 1979. Although authorities conducted an inspection at the time, the cause remained unknown.
“It used to be just a small hole with a bit of mud seeping out,” Tanh said. “But now the eruption is much stronger and the ground is cracking, so people are very worried,” Tanh highlighted.
