US Ambassador pays first visit to General Vo Nguyen Giap’s tomb

Ambassador Marc E. Knapper shared that this was his second visit to Quang Binh Province and his first time visiting General Vo Nguyen Giap’s tomb.

Previously, in 2004, Ambassador Knapper had met General Vo Nguyen Giap. He had also visited and laid flowers in tribute at the General’s Memorial House in Le Thuy District, Quang Binh Province.

On the morning of April 1, the leadership of Quang Binh Province held a courtesy meeting with Ambassador Knapper during his visit and working trip to the province.

During the meeting, the Ambassador highlighted the significance of this year, marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States, as a historic milestone in the bilateral relationship.

He also reaffirmed the US Government’s commitment to supporting Vietnam in general, particularly Quang Binh, in addressing war legacies. He emphasised specific efforts aimed at post-war reconciliation, grounded in honest reflection on the past and a shared vision for a prosperous future.
