Thang's new house
Thang's family of four belongs to a low-income household. At 39 years old, he has been battling leukaemia while his two young children still depend on him. The family had been living in a dilapidated house lent to them by his uncle.

To improve their living conditions, the Cam Xuyen authorities provided VND70 million to help build a new home. In addition, the local government mobilised support from organisations, individuals, and neighbours, who contributed both financial aid and labour.

Notably, after Dantri shared Thang's situation, generous readers donated nearly VND155 million to support his family. He used part of this amount for medical treatment and allocated the rest toward the construction of the house.

After nearly three months of work, the new 60-square-metre home is complete and ready for use.
At the inauguration ceremony, Nguyen Van Thanh, Secretary of the Cam Xuyen District Party Committee, congratulated Thang and his family on their new, sturdy home.
"From now on, his family will have better living conditions. We hope this will provide a stable environment for his children to grow and study and also support him in his fight against illness," Thanh stated.
He also emphasised that Cam Xuyen District has prioritised efforts to rebuild dilapidated homes for disadvantaged families. So far, 162 out of 274 planned homes have been initiated, with 20 already completed and implemented.
"We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all organisations, agencies, businesses, and benefactors, including Dantri newspaper. Through its efforts in calling for donations, Dantri helped connect readers who contributed nearly VND155 million to Thang's family. This support has greatly aided our local social welfare initiatives," Thanh added.
Tran Thi Giang, 38, Thang's wife, extended her heartfelt thanks to provincial, district, and local leaders and the community for coming together to help her family build their new home.
