On March 12, Dantri newspaper, in collaboration with the local authorities of Lao Cai province, held an inauguration ceremony to hand over seven houses to impoverished families in the area.

At the ceremony, Dantri's Editor-in-Chief, Pham Tuan Anh, expressed gratitude to the local government, readers across the country, and especially Minh Tri Thanh Academy Joint Stock Company for their support in building homes for disadvantaged families in Van Ban, Si Ma Cai districts, and Sa Pa town.

"A few months ago, Dantri, together with the local government, sponsors, and affected families, initiated the construction of these houses to help rebuild lives after natural disasters," he said. "Today, as we witness the completion and inauguration of these seven homes, I am deeply moved. While our collective efforts can only provide partial relief, the loss of loved ones remains an irreparable tragedy. I hope that in the future, local leaders, philanthropists, and Dantri readers will continue to support these families, especially the children who have lost their parents."

He further revealed that earlier that day, Dantri had also commenced the construction of four houses for struggling families in Bat Xat District. By the end of the week, another five houses will be initiated in Cao Bang Province, bringing the total to 100 houses, fufilling the initial target set for 2024-2025 of building 100 homes for impoverished families nationwide.

Attending the event, Vu Hong Phuong, Deputy Head of the Lao Cai Provincial Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation, stated that on October 9, 2024, Dantri collaborated with local authorities and benefactors to launch the construction of these seven homes for families in Van Ban, Si Ma Cai, and Sa Pa. The total financial support amounted to VND700 million (USD28,000), with each house receiving VND100 million.

During the construction process, local authorities mobilised additional resources, including labour and materials, from relatives, neighbours, and other benefactors. As a result, each house was built with varying investments ranging from VND100 million to VND700 million, depending on additional family contributions. The total value of these seven humanitarian houses exceeded VND2 billion.

This invaluable assistance serves as a strong foundation, providing essential resources to help affected families gradually stabilise their lives," Vu Hong Phuong remarked.

Ha Thi Do, an ethnic Tay woman and grandmother of Nguyen Anh Thuy, an orphan who lost both parents in the tragic collapse of the Dong Nam A - Nam Luc hydropower plant's administrative building, was overwhelmed with emotion at the inauguration. She expressed her gratitude to the local authorities and Dantri readers for their support in building her new home.

On this occasion, Dantri presented seven gifts to the recipient families, each worth VND1 million, along with 10 tubes of vitamins. The total cash donation amounted to VND7 million. Minh Tri Thanh Academy Joint Stock Company also provided additional gifts worth VND10.5 million to the families receiving the humanitarian homes.

In response to the government’s objectives, Dantri has launched a programme for the 2024-2025 period to build 100 houses for underprivileged families across the country who are unable to work. To date, Dantri has initiated the construction of 95 humanitarian homes, with 73 already completed.

Looking ahead, Dantri has set a new target of completing 200 houses for the disadvantaged by the end of 2025. To achieve this, the newspaper seeks the continued trust, support, and contributions of its readers, philanthropists, and local authorities nationwide.
