This unique eatery offers instant noodles for just VND1,000 (USD0.04), aiming to support struggling workers regardless of their gender, age, or profession. Anyone in need can stop by for a bowl of noodles with vegetables, eggs, and sausage without worrying about the cost.
The shop’s owner, Tran Thi Bich Hue, shared that after witnessing the hardships of many homeless and underprivileged individuals, she decided to open the noodle shop as a practical way to help those in need. With just VND1,000, diners can enjoy a warm meal, and for those without money, a simple smile is enough.

“My shop has only been running since the recent Tet Lunar New Year holiday, yet many lottery ticket sellers, homeless individuals, and even struggling students have come here for a meal. I am very happy that my small gesture has been welcomed by the community. I hope that similar initiatives will spread in the future to help even more people in difficult circumstances,” Hue said.
Each day, the shop serves hundreds of free or low-cost bowls of noodles to impoverished workers, students far from home, and the homeless. While VND1,000 is a negligible amount, the act itself represents kindness and solidarity.
Nguyen Thanh Tan, a student at Duy Tan University, said he often visits the shop after classes to save on living expenses. “This is truly a meaningful initiative that provides people with a filling meal to continue their work. For some, VND1,000 or a packet of noodles might not be much, but when you are hungry, it could be the most satisfying meal, warming the hearts of those in need or stranded travellers,” Tan said.
Discussing the financial sustainability of the shop, Hue explained that she does not seek donations from benefactors. Her primary goal was simply to assist those in need. “I charge a symbolic VND1,000 so that people who come to eat feel comfortable and not embarrassed. I also want them to experience a sense of care from society,” she added.
