Social media users recently shared a heart-stopping video of a car losing control and slamming into a tree on the pavement.
The footage shows that at the time of the incident, three women were standing outside a convenience store when a speeding car suddenly approached and crashed directly into a tree less than a metre away.
Many netizens expressed their shock after watching the video, with most commenting that the tree had "saved" the three women from a potentially fatal accident. They also advised caution when standing on pavements.
Speaking to Dantri reporters, Tran Van Hung, a resident of Tam Duong District, Vinh Phuc, confirmed that the incident occurred at 9.30 am on March 6.
According to Hung, his mother and a neighbour were chatting with a vendor when a grey four-seater car crashed into a Pacific walnut tree in front of their house. The sudden impact sent the bystanders fleeing in panic.
"I was inside the house when I heard a loud crash followed by frantic screams. I rushed outside to find dust billowing, and my mother and the two women beside her were in shock.
The front of the car was heavily damaged, with scratches on the rear and deployed airbags. The driver, visibly shaken, hesitated momentarily before stepping out of the vehicle. Fortunately, no one was injured," Hung recounted.
The car is heavily damaged following the incident.
He attributed the miraculous escape to the tree, which has been growing for about ten years and is over two metres tall.
"If the tree hadn't been there, the car would have hit my mother directly from behind, and I dread to think what could have happened. The impact also damaged the roller shutter of our shop," he added.
Following the incident, Hung's family reminded each other to avoid standing on the pavement to prevent similar unforeseen dangers.
