The Tuy Hoa Border Guard Station announced on December 31 that they have been searching for the fishing boat PY 92042 TS that has lost contact since December 24.
According to the station, the boat was owned by Luong Cong Hay, 44, who is also the captain. At 11.30 am on December 23, one of the four crew members aboard, Vu Dinh Tan, 46, was injured while fishing on the sea. Captain Hay decided to move the boat to Song Tu Tay Island to seek medical treatment for Tan. He also called to inform his family of their trip to Song Tu Tay.
However, the boat has lost contact since December 24 and his family informed local authorities about their losing contact on December 25.
Many fishermen go to sea in Phu Yen at this time of the year as they can enjoy big catches. However, there are usually strong winds and high waves, posing risks to fishing boats.
