Scaffolding collapse at hydropower project kills three, two missing

A scaffolding collapse at a hydropower project in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum has left three dead and two missing.

The incident took place at the Dak Mi 1 Hydropower Project in Dak Nhoong Commune, Dak Glei District.

According to initial information, around 3 am on December 31, while working at the construction site, a scaffolding suddenly collapsed, causing a group of five workers to fall into a deep hole.

Four of the workers are from the central province of Nghe An and one other in Kon Tum.

Local authorities quickly sent a rescue group and equipment to the scene.

The rescue team found three dead, while two others remain unaccounted for.

Local authorities have provided VND5 million (USD197.23) to each victim's family to assist the funerals.

Investigations into the case are still going on.
