According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, at 10:00 AM, Pabuk was churning through the waters off the coast from Khanh Hoa to Binh Thuan, packing winds of 50-61kph near its centre.
In the coming hours, the storm is forecast to move west-southwest at a speed of 10-15 km/h along the southeastern coast before weakening further into a low-pressure area.
Due to the impact of Pabuk and the cold air from the north, heavy rain is expected in localities from Quang Tri to Phu Yen, with rainfall likely to climb to 40 - 60mm.
The tropical depression will also have a significant impact on coastal provinces, with strong winds and a high risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas, warned meteorologists.
Authorities warned residents to prepare for measures to prevent damage caused by the tropical depression, especially in areas vulnerable to flooding, such as coastal and mountainous regions.
