Tho Xuan Airport
According to a proposal sent out by the committee on December 17, Tho Xuan Airport has seen a rising number of passengers, which has overloaded its capacity.
"The airport received 1.5 million passengers in 2022, which was 25 percent higher than its 1.2 million annual passengers capacity," the committee said. "Meanwhile, Terminal 1, the taxiway and runway, which have been used for over 40 years, have seen damage with time."
The committee has proposed investing VND8.2 trillion in the Tho Xuan Airport upgrade, which aims to serve 5 million passengers by 2030. The project includes the construction of a second terminal, a new runway, and an expansion of the parking area to accommodate 16 aircraft.
The Tho Xuan Airport began operating as a civil airport on February 5, 2013.
