Dozens hospitalised in Vung Tau from suspected food poisoning

As many as 48 people in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau’s Vung Tau City have been hospitalised after eating sandwiches at a local shop.

The patients taken to the Emergency Department of Vung Tau Hospital in the morning of November 27 all suffered from severe abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhoea.

The patients are staying at Vung Tau Hospital's Emergency Department on November 27.

A woman said that at around 4 am on Wednesday morning, she experienced severe abdominal pain and vomiting and was hospitalised. She had eaten a mixed sandwich with pork, pickled vegetables, butter, pâté, and sausage on Tuesday evening.

By Wednesday midday, the hospital had received 48 patients with the same symptoms. Notably, they had all eaten sandwiches from a shop in Ward 7.

Thirteen patients with light symptoms were discharged from the hospital. Meanwhile, one struggling with a severe condition has gradually improved. Doctors are providing active treatment for them.

The police have gathered the information from the patients for the investigation.
