Monkeys are commonly seen around Con Dao, including beaches, roads, and tourist attractions. They even approach travellers, asking for bananas, coconuts, candies, and other treats.

The monkeys on Con Dao Island
On November 1, while two Spanish tourists were swimming at a local beach, some monkeys suddenly appeared and stole their clothes. Fortunately, a nearby person intervened just in time to stop them.
Monkeys break into people's homes to steal eggs and also damaged a pagoda roof.
Many people have complained about being disturbed by monkeys at Con Dao National Park. Islanders have to use dogs to keep monkeys away.
The animals mainly eat leaves and fruits. Occasionally, they also eat snails, crabs, and chicken eggs.
