On Thursday evening, many areas in Thai Nguyen were seriously flooded, particularly the cities of Thai Nguyen, Song Cong, and Pho Yen, along with the districts of Dong Hy, Dai Tu, and Vo Nhai, which received the highest rainfall of up to 141mm.

Floodwaters were so violent that they swept away some cars on local streets.
This morning, August 23, Minh Cau Street in Thai Nguyen City was submerged by one metre. Some spots were so deep that the water rose halfway up cars. Many cars and motorbikes stalled on Quang Trung Street because of the flooding.

Several areas were under water by 300-500cm, including Quang Trung and Chua Hang streets in Thai Nguyen City.
Heavy rain caused landslides in several places, such as Luong Ngoc Quyen Primary School and the Tan Thanh Ward People's Committee.

According to the Thai Nguyen Hydrometeorological Station, Nui Coc Reservoir released floodwaters at 50-200 cubic metres per second this morning.
Thai Nguyen authorities have also warned that the water level on the Cau River will rise rapidly over the next 12-24 hours, posing flooding risks for surrounding areas.
The province has been forecasted to see more rain today, August 23.
