According to Lai Xuan Thanh, chairman of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam, around 6,000 engineers and workers and thousands of machines and equipment serve the project.
Work on many facilities, including terminals, taxiways, runways, and parking aprons, is ahead of schedule.
According to Thanh, the project implementation has faced material shortages and unfavourable weather. Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the project investor, has asked contractors to seek alternative material sources to meet the schedule.
Deputy Minister of Transport Le Anh Tuan said many infrastructure projects, including Belt Roads 4 and 3 and the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway, are being carried out to connect Long Thanh International Airport.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man urged the investors and contractors to update them frequently on the airport project's progress and noted the importance of building roads to link the airport.
