A report by the Hoang Su Phi District Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue said that the rain lasted from Sunday evening to Monday morning and caused landslides in many areas.
"At least eleven houses were damaged, and two others collapsed," the report said. "A local woman, Dang Mui, 80, died after her house collapsed in a landslide. The landslides also injured two other residents, Dang Thi Loan and Trieu Mui Sinh, who are now being treated at local hospitals.

A landslide triggered by heavy rains also broke a house in Son La Province on Sunday evening, killing a six-month-old baby and injuring a young couple while they were sleeping at home.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issued an official dispatch on Sunday, demanding proactive moves to prevent, control, and address natural disasters in the future.
The dispatch noted that abnormal and unpredictable natural disasters have continued since the start of 2024. Intense heat waves, drought, and prolonged saltwater intrusion at the beginning of the year were followed by continuous heavy rains, landslides, and flooding in many places, especially in the northern, north-central, and central Highlands regions.
