On July 29, Quang Binh Police transferred the three Chinese citizens Huang Jie Cheng, 18, Luo Shi Jun, 16, and Gan Ying, 17, to police in the neighbouring province of Quang Ngai, who were conducting further investigations into a murder case occurring in the area.
According to Quang Binh Police, during a patrol on National Road 1 in Ba Don Town at 8 am on July 28, they noticed a Mai Linh Taxi Company car and ordered the driver to stop for a check.
However, the driver instead sped up. When being chased by the police, the driver crashed into three motorbikes, leaving three drivers injured before being caught.

At the police station, the driver, Luo Shi Jun and two others in the taxi, Huang Jie Cheng and Gan Ying, admitted that they had hired a cab from Mai Linh Taxi Company in the northern province of Quang Ninh's Ha Long City at 2 am on July 27 for a transnational tour. When going through Quang Ngai Province at 7 pm the same day, they attacked the driver, 47-year-old Nguyen Van Hai, until he died, and then they threw his body out and drove the car away.
Police are further investigating the case.
