With that increase, the country earned over VND35 trillion during the period, up 31.80 percent from last year's figure. Some localities reported the biggest revenue growth including HCM City with 42.20 percent, Danang 38.60 percent, Can Tho 33.70 percent, Hanoi 29.70 percent, and Quang Ninh 21 percent.

Asia was the largest Vietnamese tourist market with over 7.9 million arrivals, up 57.1 percent from last year's figure. Europe came second with 1.62 million visitors, up 47.30 percent on-year, followed by the US with 610,200, up 19.70 percent; Australia with 309,000, up 27.30 percent; and Africa with 29,200, up 98.50 percent.

In July alone, Vietnam welcame 1.15 million international arrivals, up 10.90 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to the report, some 8.4 million foreign tourists chose to travel to Vietnam by air, around 1.4 million by road, and the remainder by sea.

The number of international visitors has increased strongly thanks to the effectiveness of favourable visa policies, along with the local tourism promotion stimulus programme, GSO said, adding that the growth would be maintained in the coming months and the country could reach the target of welcoming 18 million foreign tourists by the end of the year.

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has been actively promoting and advertising to continue attracting international tourists.

From June 24 to July 2, the administration held events in Paris, Milan, and Frankfurt, to promote Vietnam's tourism. And from June 29 to July 3, the ministry also organised the Vietnam Tourism and Culture Promotion Festival in South Korea 2024, which introduced the country's image and people and promoted Vietnam's tourism brand, destinations, services, and tourism potential to the South Korean public.
