On Monday, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) urged concerned agencies to prepare for Storm Prapiroon.

According to the CAAV, within the next 24 hours, the storm will enter the coastal areas of Quang Ninh and Haiphong with wind speeds. Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh will be directly affected. Meanwhile, Cat Bi Airport in Haiphong, Tho Xuan Airport in Thanh Hoa and Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi would see rain and strong winds.

The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation has been asked for enhanced meteorological information and continuous updated warning bulletins.

Airports and airlines must closely follow the storm information for flight rescheduling as well as take necessary responses to ensure flight safety.

The CAAV has also requested concerned units to implement plans for flood control and clear drainage channels at airports.

At 7 am on Monday, the eye of the storm was on Hainan Island in China, some 270 kilometres from Van Don Airport and 310 kilometres from Cat Bi Airport.
