An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale hit Ngoc Lac district of Thanh Hoa province, a locality in the north-central part of Vietnam, on July 20, according to the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Centre under the Institute of Geophysics of Vietnam.

The epicentre of the 4.1 magnitude earthquake in Thanh Hoa is located at a depth of approximately 10km

The earthquake occurred at about 21:31 with its epicentre at a depth of approximately 10km, said the centre, adding it fortunately did not pose natural disaster risks.

On social networks, local people shared many videos showing that the earthquake caused quite strong vibrations of the ground.

T.T, who lives in Ngoc Lac district, said that she was sleeping when she felt the shaking. In the morning, she checked her fashion store’s CCTV system and found that the shaking lasted for a few seconds.

Many people living near Ngoc Lac district such as Vinh Loc and Tho Xuan districts also clearly felt the tremors of this earthquake.

The Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Centre said it was monitoring the earthquake.
