People in Nhon Ly Commune in Quy Nhon City discovered the whale yesterday morning, July 20. The residents quickly reported the case to local authorities.

According to Nguyen Thanh Danh, vice chairman of Nhon Ly Commune, the whale is around three metres long and weighs some 200 kilogrammes.
There are many severe wounds on the whale's body.
According to Vietnamese coastal people's beliefs, whales, often called Ong Fish, are considered sacred species that frequently helps fishermen in distress at sea. So, when a whale is found dead ashore, they usually perform a ritual and bury it in accordance with local traditions.
