The move will improve service for visitors to the province during the Lotus Festival, which will be held in Cao Lanh City from May 16 to 19.
The list shows 21 restaurants in Cao Lanh City that will introduce some of the most popular lotus dishes, including lotus root salad, rice with lotus seeds, spring rolls with lotus seed stuffing, grilled snakehead wrapped in lotus leaves, lotus seed soup, and lotus seed milk.
Some restaurants in the neighbouring provinces of Lai Vung, Cao Lanh, Lap Vo, and Hong Ngu City will also offer these special Dong Thap dishes.
Some of Thap Muoi District's lotus fields will be opened to visitors who can admire the beautiful scenery, learn about lotus farming and enjoy special dishes made from the trees.
Selected restaurant and food stall staff recently attended a training course organised by the Dong Thap Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to provide visitors with top-quality dishes during the annual festival.
Around 30 activities will take place at the Lotus Festival 2024, the second of its kind organised in Dong Thap, including an international forum on the lotus, an exhibition on the lotus products, a food street featuring lotus dishes, and tours to visit lotus fields. Around 5,500 local women will join a traditional Ao Dai performance with a lotus theme.
Dong Thap introduced up to 200 dishes made from lotus at the first Lotus Festival in 2022.
