Opened to traffic in July 2016, the O Dong Mac-Nguyen Khoai road section in Hai Ba Trung District, which is part of Belt Road 1, was known to have the highest construction costs in the capital city at that time.
The 570-metre section cost VND1.14 trillion (USD44.85 million).
The six-lane road has helped ease traffic congestion at the Tran Khat Chan-Lo Duc intersection.

Kim Lien-Xa Dan road, also part of Belt Road 1, was put into operation in February 2008. The 550-metre road cost VND773 billion (USD30.43 million), and this road is said to be the world's most expensive road.
The eight-lane road has helped solve serious traffic jams at the Xa Dan-O Cho Dua Intersection and eased traffic on surrounding streets such as La Thanh and Hoang Cau.
Three years later, the O Cho Dua - Hoang Cau section was built at an even higher cost. The total investment on this 547-metre section rose to about VND800 billion (USD31.50 million).
Spanning just 566 metres long, Nguyen Van Huyen Street in Cau Giay District was completed in 2015 with total investment of over VND969 billion (USD38.15 million) including over VND680 billion for site clearance.
The 2.20-km Truong Chinh Street was expanded in 2013 with a total investment of VND2.56 trillion (USD100.79 million). The street is part of the city's Belt Road 2.
To carry out this street expansion project, the investor took over 116,000 square metres of land from 618 households and 34 organisations in the two districts of Dong Da and Thanh Xuan. Truong Chinh Street now has 10 lanes and an overpass.
A two-km Dam Hong - National Road 1A section of Belt Road 2.5 was approved in 2002 with total investment of VND1.30 trillion. However, the project has yet to be completed 14 years after site clearance started in 2010.
