Seven workers killed in Yen Bai cement plant accident

Seven workers were killed and three other were injured in a work-related accident at a cement plant in the northern province of Yen Bai on Monday afternoon.

Seven workers were killed and three other were injured in a work-related accident at a plant of the Yen Bai Cement and Mineral Company in the northern province of Yen Bai on Monday afternoon.

The cement plant where the work-related accident happens, killing seven and injuring three others on April 22.

A report from local authorities said that the tragic accident occurred at 1:30pm when 10 workers were doing the repair work of the stone crushing line at a workshop of the cement plant in Yen Binh District.

Initial investigations showed that it might have been an electrical accident that killed seven workers aged between 33-47 and three other were injured. The injured workers were taken to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Further investigations into the cause of the accident are underway.

PM Pham Minh Chinh has sent his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and asked for prompt investigation into the cause of the incident.
