Bien Hoa Airbase
Under the approval of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, the ministries of defence, finance, natural resources and environment and investment and planning need to support Dong Nai Province to implement the project through public-private partnerships (PPP).
The move followed Dong Nai’s proposal to upgrade Bien Hoa Airbase into a civil airport as well to serve 5 million passengers per year by 2030. Its capacity is expected to rise to 10 million passengers by 2050.
According to Dong Nai’s recommendation, around 50 hectares of Bien Hoa Airbase's the total number of 967 hectares would be used for civil aviation activities.
Bien Hoa Airbase is located in Tan Hong Ward in Bien Hoa City which is 25 kilometres from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City.
The government allowed Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh, Sapa Airport in Lao Cai Province and Quang Tri Airport in Quang Tri Province to be invested under PPP.
