A light cold spell is set to sweep across the northern region of Vietnam this week, following a period of warm weather, the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting has announced.
Temperatures in many northern localities are expected to reach between 26-28 degrees Celsius on 5-6 March. In some northwestern areas, such as Lai Chau and Dien Bien, temperatures could soar to 33 degrees Celsius.
By 7 March, colder weather accompanied by rain is forecasted, with temperatures dropping by 8 degrees Celsius compared to 6 March.
The National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting also noted that the northern region would continue to experience cold weather throughout March.
The average temperature in northern localities in March is anticipated to be 0.5-1.0 degree Celsius higher than in previous years. Meanwhile, the Central Highlands and southern regions can expect averages 1.0-1.5 degrees Celsius higher.
