A representative from the Traffic Police Department spoke to Dantri/Dtinews, stating the tragic accident occurred at 1:36 am on 5 March on National Road 2 in Yen Son District, Tuyen Quang Province.

"The two vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when they collided," he said. "Both overturned and sustained heavy damage. Rescue forces discovered five deceased individuals in the passenger bus, while five others received urgent hospitalisation due to severe injuries."

Initial investigations indicate the driver of the container truck lost control while navigating a curve in the road and collided with the passenger bus. Dense mist and low visibility prevailed in the area at the time of the accident.

Tests confirmed both drivers were negative for drugs and alcohol.

Police are conducting further investigations to determine the cause of the accident.

National Road 2 extends over 300 kilometres, passing through Hanoi and four northern provinces: Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, and Ha Giang.
