Authorities in the central province of Nghe An have just decided to clear more than eight hectares of forest for the construction of two 500 kV transmission lines.

The forest will be cleared for the construction of two 500 kV transmission lines running from Quang Trach and Quynh Luu, and from Quynh Luu to Thanh Hoa.
The VND10.11 trillion Quang Trach-Quynh Luu 500 kV transmission line runs 225 kilometres through three central provinces of Quang Binh, Ha Tinh, and Nghe An. The section in Nghe An spans 99.83 kilometres with 202 pylons.
According to the national power development plan, the northern region will have the biggest demand for electricity in the coming time, followed by the central and then the southern region. Power consumption in the north will increase sharply following the development of coastal economic zones in Ha Tinh, Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh, and Quang Ninh.
The construction of more 500 kV transmission lines will help ensure sufficient power supply for the country's future socio-economic development.
