According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the country saw 10.50 million domestic tourists between February 8-14. Among those, HCM City accounted for 1.80 million tourists, up 5.9 percent on-year, followed by Quang Ninh with 803,570 tourists.
HCM City held many activities during Tet, including tours to visit the headquarters of the HCM City People’s Committee and People’s Council.
Hanoi served 653,000 visitors on Tet, up 21.60 percent on-year, bringing in a total revenue of VND2.35 trillion (USD95.91 million).
The New Year’s Eve drone light show was Hanoi’s Tet highlight.
Many localities, including Khanh Hoa, Thanh Hoa, Danang and Ninh Binh saw a tourist surge during Tet. Around 635,000 tourists came to Thanh Hoa, up 48.70 percent on-year. Meanwhile, Khanh Hoa served 630,300 travellers during Tet.
Many tourist sites in Sapa, Ha Giang and some others even faced traffic congestion.
The Vietnamese tourism sector aims to attract 110 million domestic tourists and 17-18 million foreign visitors this year.
