On February 12, some roads in Sapa such as Xuan Vien, Thach Son and Cau May were jammed due to many vehicles. The tailback lasted more than a kilometre.
Many events are being held in Sapa, including the Spring Festival of Opening Fansipan Heaven’s Gate.
According to the Sapa Information and Culture Centre, before Tet, the hotel room coverage in Sapa on February 12-15 reached 97 percent.
Sapa is expected to welcome 100,000 visitors during Tet, up 11,000 on-year. On February 12-13, the locality would serve 65,000 visitors.
Da Lat is also witnessing a tourist rise on Tet. Many people are rushing to the city to see the cherry blossoms and spring festivals.
On February 8-12, Da Lat welcomed 153,000 tourists, up 22.4 percent on-year, including 10,800 foreigners, up 8 percent.
Hotels ranked 3-5 stars in Da Lat have operated at 90-95 percent of their capacity.
Since the morning of February 12, roads to Da Lat have seen more traffic.
