A traffic accident occurs on February 7.

According to the National Traffic Safety Committee, traffic police dealt with 8,540 traffic violations nationwide, issued fines totalling VND21.14 billion, and seized 138 cars and 3,015 motorbikes. All the violations were found on roads. There were no violations on railways or waterways.

As many as 1,930 drivers had their driving licences confiscated for violations including drunk driving, or speeding.

There were serious traffic congestion reported on many belt roads in Hanoi and HCM City as people left the country's two largest cities for their hometowns for the holiday.
