Two bus routes running through tourism sites have just been launched in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.
The routes call at famous tourist sites in the province including Dong Ba Market, Thien Mu Pagoda, Da Vien Bridge, Tu Duc Tomb, Khai Dinh Tomb, the Hue High School for the Gifted, among others.
The routes operate between 7.30 am to 9 pm in summer, and 8.30 am to 7.30 pm in winter.
On February 4, the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre also launched a green and environmentally friendly tour in the area of King Gia Long's Mausoleum in Huong Tho Commune.
King Gia Long's Mausoleum is part of the Hue Imperial Monument complex which was recognised by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage.
The opening of the green tour has contributed to diversifying tourism products and services in a bid to develop the local tourism industry.
King Gia Long’s mausoleum area is currently covered with trees and lakes which are suitable for building a green heritage destination.
At the initial stage, the centre will invest in nearly 80 environmentally friendly vehicles such as bicycles and electric vehicles, as well as planting 40 trees every year with the aim of fulfilling Vietnam’s commitments made at the UN-Climate Change Conference (COP26) in the UK on reducing emissions and eliminating coal power generation by 2040, and deforestation by 2030.
Le Cong Son, deputy director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre, emphasised that the locality was keen to introduce the use of green, smart, and sustainable tourism through electric vehicles in order to provide visitors with the opportunity to experience cultural relics and beautiful landscapes.
