According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, the north will continue to have warm weather on Tuesday before experiencing a short cold spell from Wednesday with average temperatures falling to between 15-18 degrees Celsius in lowland areas and 12-14 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas. Rain may occur in some areas during this period.
This short cold spell will ease from Thursday, but the cold weather will return at the weekend.
Experts forecast that the northern region will see more light cold spells in the coming time with temperatures not falling too low. The cold weather might only be felt at night or in the early morning, while it would stay warm during the day.
The air pollution that has badly affected the north over the past few days will improve during the cold weather.
Meanwhile, central localities from Ha Tinh to Binh Dinh will witness downpours on January 3-4.
