Area around Hoan Kiem Lake covered in rubbish following New Year celebrations

Rubbish has blanketed streets around the Hoan Kiem Lake area following the New Year’s Eve countdown on Sunday night.

 

After the celebration, dozens of environmental workers concentrated on cleaning the area.

Litter was found on pedestrian streets around the lake, including Dinh Tien Hoang, Hang Bai and Le Thai To.

Rubbish was mostly plastic waste such as plastic bottles and bags.

Rubbish could be found everywhere, even on trees and flower pots.

Nguyen Thi Thu, an environmental worker, said that it took her and her colleagues several hours to clean the area.

Environmental workers expected that people would have better awareness to protect the environment so that they could save more time for the work.

Despite dustbins being arranged, many people threw the litter on the streets.
