Police in Hanoi have found thousands of products without known origins at a storage facility owned by Nguyen Hoang Mai Ly who runs a famous TikTok shop with millions of followers.
Besides TikTok, Mai Ly is also selling goods online on channels including Instagram, Facebook, and her Mailystyle.com website.
Checking her five-storey storage in Ha Dong District on December 25, police saw over 50 staff members receiving and packaging thousands of products.
Information on the packaging said that the products were made abroad including the US, Canada, and South Korea but there was no import information.
The warehouse manager failed to show any documents proving the origins of the goods which included cosmetics, functional food, and household appliances.
Hanoi authorities are contacting the product owner, who was not present at the location, about the case.
The Hanoi Market Department is co-operating with local police to investigate possible scams in online businesses during the year-end shopping season.
