The northern region of Vietnam, including Hanoi, is struggling with the strongest cold front this year with temperatures falling to around 13 degrees centigrade at night.

Despite the cold weather, water and food stalls on many streets in Hanoi such as Pham Hung, Le Van Luong, Trung Kinh and Ho Tung Mau still attracted many customers. Many of the stalls made fires to help keep warm.

The owner of a water stall on Hoang Cau Street said she had to spend around VND50,000-100,000 on burning wood for heating per night.

Bui Ngoc Anh, a motorbike driver, at My Dinh Station, said he had seen fewer customers due to the cold weather.

Phan Thanh Mai, an environmental worker on Belt Road 3, and her colleagues use a fire to keep warm.

"When we are actively working, we don't feel cold, however, sitting in one place makes us very cold. Our job requires us to work throughout the night," she said.
