
The cold front which is forecasted to arrive on Saturday morning will cause temperatures in Hanoi to drop by more than 10 degrees Celsius to between 19-21 degrees during daytime and 11-14 degrees at night.
From Saturday evening, the temperatures will further drop with the northern mountainous areas seeing average temperatures of between 7-10 degrees or even below 3 degrees in some locations.
Frost and icy weather could affect the peaks of some mountains in the north.
The cold front will also bring rain to the northern and central regions.
The centre said this would be the strongest cold spell this winter in Vietnam and there would probably be two severe cold spells to hit the northern region in December.
The strong cold spell is forecasted to last until December 20.
