The Lao Cai-Hekou Border Gate is among the largest Vietnam-China border gates. It acts as the bridge between Vietnam and China’s southwestern region.
The number of travellers through the Lao Cai-Hekou has surged after it was fully reopened early this year following a long suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Lao Cai has three border gates between Vietnam and China. Last year, trade revenue between the two nations through the border gates in Lao Cai reached an estimated USD2 billion. The figure is expected to rise to USD5 billion this year.
