The Binh Thuan Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue said on November 27 that they were calling for support from concerned agencies and vessels operating around Phu Quy Island to rescue the crew on the broken boat.
According to the committee, the boat had engine problems while fishing some 140 nautical miles northeast of Phu Quy Island at 3 am on November 26.
Captain Vo Van Vuong, 46, called for rescue for himself and 13 other crew members.
The committee said the area around the boat is facing bad weather with strong winds and high waves.
