Hanoi will pilot electric tickets for 24 bus routes from next week, according to the Hanoi Public Transport Management Centre.
The e-tickets will be applied on 24 bus routes from November 15, including the E01, E02, E03, E04, E05, E06, E07, E08 and E09 services and the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) 02, 08, 21, 32, 58, 64, 65, 74, 103, 142, 143, 146, 157 and 159 services.
The e-tickets will be paid through bank cards, electronic wallets or QR codes, the Hanoi Public Transport Management Centre said.
After the trial application on 24 bus routes, Hanoi will consider using this kind of ticket for Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro route.
E-tickets are currently being used for Hanoi's Vinbus electric bus system. After boarding the bus, passengers simply swipe their cards to make payments. They do not need to enter a PIN code or sign for confirmation. The money is deducted from their accounts and the bus tickets are automatically printed. The process takes only a few seconds, the Hanoi Times reported.
