The project encroaches Ha Long Bay

According to the Ha Long Bay Management Board, the investor poured soil into the buffer zone of the UNESCO World Heritage of Ha Long Bay area without environmental protection solutions. For instance, the company did not build a dyke to surround the project.

The investor also did not dredge mud where the soil was poured into. As a result, the mud has drifted away to areas outside the project when tides rise.

This violates regulations on heritage protection in line with the laws on environmental protection and cultural heritage. It also violates the project’s environmental impact report approved by Quang Ninh Province’s authorities.

The project implementation could badly affect the water environment and the ecosystem of the Ha Long Bay area.

Cam Pha City People’s Committee has ordered Do Gia Capital Ltd. Co. to suspend the project. Do Gia Capital Ltd. Co. has also been fined VND125 million (USD5,319) for the violation.

The investor has also been asked to publish the project's environmental impact report.
