On October 20, the SE19 train carried the first passengers from Hanoi to the central Da Nang City.
Captain Vu Dang Minh said that staff members on the route could speak foreign languages.
The walls are decorated with paintings of famous tourist sites in Vietnam.
The new high-quality trains have been repainted, the carriage interiors and exteriors have been refreshed, and they have been equipped with new blankets, sheets, pillows, and curtains.
The sleeper cabins have been redesigned with an elegant and cosy style, while the air-conditioning systems have also been reinstalled with adjustable airflow.
The cabins with seats are now equipped with hot water heaters and bright white sanitary fixtures in the washrooms and lavatories.
Passengers can also order specialities from different provinces simply by scanning a QR code with their smartphones. They can take the specialities home as gifts or enjoy them on the train.
A German passenger, Louisa Reimann, said that she was really impressed by the upgraded train. "I intended to fly to Da Nang to save time but then I heard about this new train service and I decided to try it," she said. "It was a really nice surprise. The train is beautiful and the service was quite good. I think I will take it again next time I return to the country."
Sam Meakin, James Gee and Micheal Clowes from the UK expressed surprise about the cheap ticket. "It costs us over 70 pounds for a three-hour train service from London to Manchester," they said. "Here we only have to pay half of that for a much longer trip from Hanoi to Da Nang."
The SE19 service departs Hanoi at 7.55 pm and arrives in Da Nang at 12.15 pm the next day. The SE20 departs Da Nang at 5.30 pm and arrives at Hanoi at 11.50 am the next day.
