Representatives from Dantri and the Hanoi-based National Burns Hospital recently transferred VND202,291,300 from donors to the newspaper's charity fund for Doan Ngoc Toan, 43, who is staying at the hospital for treatment.
Receiving the donations, Toan's wife Nguyen Thi Yen expressed her sincere thanks to all the kind donors for supporting her husband during his treatment. Yen said that they had also received over VND 200 million r that donors sent directly to her bank account to help Toan.
"We've received so much love, sympathy and support from our relatives, friends, local authorities, doctors and many kind donors during this difficult time," Yen said. "Thank you so much."
A doctor at the hospital said that Toan is improving, and his family has proposed that he could be transferred to a lower-level hospital in Haiphong for rehabilitation.
Toan suffered from a serious electric shock while working at a construction site on July 31. He lost both arms in the accident.

As the breadwinner of the family, Toan used to work hard to support his two disabled children and struggled to make ends meet with farming and construction work.
Yen recalled that when hearing about his accident, she had been very worried as the family had no money to send him to hospital. Some neighbours helped raise over VND3 million to help take him to Hanoi for treatment.
