Police, forest rangers and dozens of local people are expanding their search for a man who has gone missing in Cat Tien National Park for several days.

Director of Cat Tien National Park, Pham Xuan Thinh told Dantri/Dtinews on Monday evening that they were looking for Ka Sor, 65, who has gone missing in the forest since August 30.

Thinh said that Ka Sor was head of Ta Lai Village which lies besides the Cat Tien National Park. Locals usually go to the forest to look for bamboo shoots and mushrooms for their meals.

"Ka Sor was said to have gone to the forest on August 30," Thinh said. "He didn't bring anything with him, and he probably went to look for bamboo shoots. Local people started to look for the man and informed the authorities that he was missing after three days,” Thinh said.

Searchers have found footprints that could have been Ka Sor’s in the forest. A pile of bamboo shoots were also found in the area.
