The fish release took place in Thot Not Ward in Can Tho City at the witness of representatives from Can Tho authorities and the provinces of Dong Thap and An Giang.

The fish amount with a total of VND660 million (USD280,85) include different species, including grouper, catfish, snakehead fish, tilapia, barramundi and snakehead murrel.
Nguyen Ngoc He, vice chairman of Can Tho City People’s Committee, said that this activity aims to help raise public awareness of protecting, regenerating, and developing aquaculture resources and preserving the ecological environment.
He called on people not to use destructive methods such as electric shocks, toxic substances, and explosives to catch fish.
According to a survey by Can Tho University, the Mekong Delta region is home to 322 fish species.
