A local resident, Nguyen Thi Phuong, said that her son usually takes bus R16 at 559 Dien Bien Phu Street to school. The buses used to arrive every 10-15 minutes and her son used to take the service that arrived at 6.15 am. However, the service has recently seemed to experience delays, sometimes arriving as late as 6.35 am.
"There seems to be fewer buses running on this route," Phuong said. " The buses are therefore always crowded and the children are late for school."
Another passenger, Nguyen Van Binh, said that the R16 route serves mostly students but it has recently had poor services.
"We're having to wait hours for a bus," Binh said. "We're very worried as the new school year is coming when we have to use it every day."
Since the beginning of July, many public bus routes have had to suspend operations or reduce services after their operator, the Quang An 1 Company, failed to pay its staff members, leading to their mass resignations.
The poor service has resulted in a sharp drop in the number of passengers.
The Danang Transport Department has asked the company to urgently solve their problems to resume normal operation of the city public bus service.
Public bus services in Danang have run since 2016 with 11 routes were operated at present by Quang An 1 Company.
Hundreds of staff members including drivers and assistants at the company have left their jobs since June after receiving no salaries for several months.
