Over the past three years, these animals have destroyed hundreds of hectares of forest managed by Duong 9 Forestry One Member Ltd Company, causing losses of VND500 million (USD21,276).

In addition to the damage, they often chase and attack the firm’s workers.

Nguyen Danh Thanh, deputy director of the company, said that the buffalos were very aggressive and often caused trouble at night. It has not been easy to deal with them.

Duong 9 Forestry One Member Ltd Company has reported the problem to local authorities and concerned agencies, but to date, measures to deal with the situation have remained ineffective.

In May 2016, a herd of nine feral buffaloes also appeared at a forest area of Duong 9 Forestry One Member Ltd Company and attacked a company worker and he suffered from serious injuries to his liver and lung.
