The tigers were rescued from illegal wildlife traders in the central province of Nghe An in August 2021. At that time, the animals were between 1-1.5 months old and each cub weighed a mere 2.9 to 4.5 kilos.To date, each tiger weighs up to around 100 kilos.
Le Thuc Dinh, Director of the Centre for Rescue, Conservation and Creature Development at the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park said that the seven tigers had all been relocated to a new, larger conservation area on August 4. They had been given medical check-ups and vaccines before being moved to the new home.
"They are gradually adapting to their new home," Dinh said. "Each of them stays in a cage of 40 square metres. The site includes nine cages, bathing ponds and relaxing areas which are surrounded by lush forest trees."
The park is planning to expand the cage so that the tigers can have more space.
