Flood water rising at Ngoi Dum Spring in Lao Cai City on July 28.
According to the plant, they have been unable to process the muddy water from Ngoi Dum Spring. Therefore, they will temporarily stop supplying water to Kim Tan Ward and all residents in the city's southern parts due to the contaminated water sources.
"Floods triggered by heavy rains from the evening of July 27 to July 28 together with the releasing of water from a local hydropower plant have seriously contaminated the water at Ngoi Dum Spring," the plant announced on July 28. "The water source has exceeded our processing capacity. We apologise for this incident and will try to supply water again as soon as the water source returns to normal quality."

There are currently three water plants in Lao Cai City which supply water to nearly 32,000 customers.
